The statue of Bobby in Edinburgh.

Greyfriars Bobby, Edinburgh. October, 2016.

According to locals, Bobby was the name of a Skye Terrier who belonged to John Gray, a night watchman with the Edinburgh Police. They were inseparable for two years until Gray died in 1858. Bobby is said to have spent the rest of his life sitting on his master’s grave until his own death, 14 years later. He is buried just inside the gate of Greyfriars Kirkyard, not far from John Gray’s grave.
